Do you often have sensations of fear which seem to emanate from nowhere and you have no control over them? Chances are you are experiencing an anxiety attack and unless you understand the definition of one then there is little chance of you learning to control them.

Many people will experience the symptoms of an anxiety attack; some may only ever experience them once, many will have them over and over again and if you are one of the latter, then you really need to see your doctor and talk to him or her about it. Why? Chronic symptoms may be masking an underlying medical condition. Tests will be performed to determine this however, if there is nothing untoward present, then the next step will be to deal with the anxiety you experience and find ways to control it.

What Causes Anxiety Attack Symptoms

Anxiety can be attributed to any number of things including stress and phobia. For example, a close friend of mine always feared being home invaded while sleeping and she often reported waking suddenly, heart racing and feeling an intense fear. She explained a sensation of frozen fear, unable to move and any little noise she heard would just intensify the anxiety attack. Eventually, she spoke with a professional about it and found ways to firstly work through her situation and then learnt to control it.

Surfing Anxiety

In another example, an acquaintance who is a keen surfer often reported episodes of extreme anxiety just by sitting on his board waiting for the next wave to ride in. He had a fear of sharks which is probably the last thing you need when you surf regularly. He reported anxiety would set in if he had to sit for long periods of time on his board. His mind would start to focus on the stillness around him and he would suddenly be aware of his legs dangling over the side of the board.

The element of a surprise shark attack would then start to consume his thoughts and with his heart racing at a miilion beats per second would then furiously paddle back into shore. It didn’t stop there. Once on land, he would just sit on the shore, heart still racing, short of breath and feeling a distinct dizziness. I’m happy to report he also sought professional help and now surfs regularly without anxiety attack being a major factor.

Anxiety Heart Attack

Anxiety attack may be dismissed as insignificant by those ignorant enough not to understand the fear they can bring to those who suffer them. Anxiety attack is real. A report recently was circulated several years ago which examined the incidence of heart attack patients who presented themselves at emergency wings in US hospitals.

There were several instances where people experienced all the symptoms of a heart attack but after examination and a short stay, left virtually unscathed. Anxiety attack was given as the probable cause for there heart attack concerns. This is not to say you shouldn’t seek treatment if you experience the same symptoms. Heart attack will kill so don’t make your own prognosis. Seek help immediately!

Remember, if you regularly experience anxiety attack symptoms, do yourself a favor and see your physician. By doing this you are giving yourself the best chance of controlling it’s presence in your life.

It is important to first understand exactly what Anxiety Attacks in order to then be able to treat them.

What Are Anxiety Attacks?

Anxiety attacks can be described as sudden unexpected bursts of extreme severe anxiety. Usually there are at least 3 to 4 additional physical and cognitive panic signs and symptoms, which can include:

– Shortness Of Breath

– Chest Pains

– Dizziness and Light-headedness

– Tingles, Numbness

– Loss of Control

…there are others.

An actual anxiety attack normally peaks within 5 to 10 minutes and can take up to 1 hour to completely subside and disappear.

Many studies have suggested that an estimated 30-35% of the population have had a single anxiety attack before in their lifes – which is twice as common in women compared to mean – just like cases of depression.

Treating Anxiety Attacks

There is one key factor that makes the difference between those who fully eliminate panic attacks from their lives and those who do not. The key ingredient is not medication, lifestyle changes, or relaxation exercises. It is when the individual no longer fears the thought of having a panic attack.

This may seem like a simplified and obvious observation but give it careful consideration. The one thing that has you searching for a solution to anxiety and panic attacks this very moment is the fear of having another one.

In my opinion, the best way to stop future anxiety attacks is to give people the ability to immediately stop fearing another panic attack. It is very simple yet amazingly effective. Here is how it works:

After a person experiences a panic attack for the first time, the experience can be so impacting that it leaves a strong imprint on the persons psyche. This mental imprint generates a cycle or loop of anxiety whereby the person develops an unhealthy fear of having another panic attack. People can spend anywhere from months to years caught in this repetitive cycle of anxiety.

By following this process, it can allow that person to break the cycle of anxiety and return to normal everyday living.

The really unique element of the technique, is that there is no need for you to regress into your past and find out why you had your initial panic attack in order to get results. All that is needed is your willingness to break out of the anxiety cycle.

It is important to know that you don’t need to purchase medecine or pills etc in order to tackle anxiety and panic attacks.

This is something that can be tackled without using natural remedies.

There exists much confusion, even among experts, concerning the words panic and anxiety when it comes to what is commonly referred to as a “panic attack”. Is that the same thing as an “anxiety attack”? Are they the same thing? Or is there a difference between panic and anxiety attacks?

A “panic attack” is the inappropriate emergence of the human “fight or flight” response at an inopportune time. Physically, panic attacks are characterized by sweatiness, racing pulse, dizziness, hot flashes, and discoloration of the skin. And these are only the physical attributes. The most oppressive aspect of a panic attack is resident within one’s thoughts.

In the midst of one of these attacks, those who suffer from them claim to experience a sense of sheer terror beyond anything which they’ve previously felt. During an episode, many insist they are going to die even though all the objective facts point to them being completely fine and safe. These feelings aptly prompt the word usage of both “panic” and “anxiety”. The pathology as described above is correctly described as either a panic attack, or an anxiety attack.

However, the word “anxiety” is also present within another disorder which is a wholly different animal from a panic attack. Societal Anxiety Disorder, which goes by the apt acronym of SAD, is a disorder where sufferers are afraid to engage in any social situation. This can be as simple as shaking a stranger’s hand all the way up to fear of public speaking.

Also, “anxiety” is often used to describe a more attenuated version of panic. Whereas panic can be said to be a full boil, anxiety can be said to be a slow simmer. A panic attack most often fully freezes those it afflicts. One is not functional in the midst of a full fledged panic attack.

However, a sense of “anxiety” can be resident while still allowing one to go about the activities of everyday life. Granted, this underlying persistent anxious feeling is far from a positive one. However, it is not debilitating to the degree of a panic attack and sufferers from general anxiety are often able to hide it from those around them.

This is not to say general anxiety is harmless. It has been long established that anxiety and stress can contribute to a diverse palate of undesirable maladies. It can be just as important to treat chronic general anxiety as it is to address outright panic attacks. Many treatments are actually applicable to both.

So, remember that SAD is not a panic attack. Anxiety is a more tame version of panic. When it comes to an “attack”, both words are general interchangeable before it. It may seem like extreme parsing of words, but it is helpful to understand the difference between panic and anxiety attacks.

“Cure” is not the right word to use for anxiety attack. As anxiety is a natural feeling which anyone can experience, it would be misleading to say that you can eliminate it forever. But make no mistake, a cure is possible.

And by cure I mean achieving a state which you no long have irrational fear, and is able to live the life you used to prior to being stuck with anxiety attack. This is what it means to be “cured” of anxiety attack.

However, take note that you cannot get rid of anxiety attack instantly. Just as Rome wasn’t built in a day, you cannot expect to be permanently rid of anxiety attack this very instant. The healing process is long and would take a substantial amount of time and it would be unwise to hold on to any thoughts of a “miracle cure”.

So how do you go about “curing” anxiety attack?

I am sure you know by now that you cannot experience a full blown anxiety attack constantly. Its not possible. Given enough time, the symptoms will fade away. In fact, you don’t experience the symptoms most of the time but you know that eventually, it will rear its ugly head and you would be helpless against it. So how do you stop it for good?

First of all, you have to learn to not fear anxiety attack. Accept it. Accept the fact that you have anxiety attack. Don’t run or hide from it. Don’t fear anxiety attack returning. This is the MOST important step.

No one can make you believe this fact. I can ask you not to fear anxiety and not to run from it but it won’t be of any use UNLESS you really believe in it. Only YOU can convince yourself of this fact. Things that you learn yourself through experience are far more embedded in you than the things your given freely.

Consider this fact. Despite all the horrible symptoms you went through during anxiety attack, did any of them come true? Did you actually have a heart attack (heart pounding madly)? Did you actually suffocate (difficulty in breathing)? Did you actually faint or die from it?

NO!

As you can see, the truth has been with you all along. Anxiety attack CANNOT harm you. You will ALWAYS be fine and you will NEVER suffer any physical complications from it. You fears are all unfounded – this is the FACT. Convince yourself on this! You don’t need to fear having anxiety attack. You don’t have to run or hide from it.

Anxiety attacks seem to be a modern day scourge on society and a debilitating and often impossible thing to overcome affecting all corners of society – rich, poor, educated, uneducated, men, women, children and elders. With modern day problems we now require modern day solutions and over the last few years thankfully new technologies and breakthroughs have been discovered that can literally help you overcome anxiety attacks in a matter of minutes or hours rather than spending months or years on a therapists couch paying exorbitant fees with little no effect.

There are many organizations, drugs, therapists and methods that can help people overcome phobias, fears and anxiety attacks – some work faster than others while some simply don’t deal with the cause but attempt to treat or paper over the symptom.

Over the last 20 or 30 years much groundbreaking research has been done by the likes of Richard Bandler and Anthony Robbins that will help you to overcome any phobias, anxiety attacks and fears in literally a matter of minutes or hours rather than months and years. This is the news that people suffering from anxiety attacks or debilitating fears have been waiting for all their life!

Hypnosis and neuro linguistic programming enable people to re-associate or re-program the way that people currently (and unconsciously) perceive a problem, anxiety or fear into a completely different experience which enables them to feel like they have complete control over themselves and their emotions.

It is widely accepted now that our internal world – in other words the pictures, sounds and feelings we have on the inside – affect the external experiences we have in the ‘real’ world. Thus, through new and advanced technologies such as self-hypnosis and nlp, by changing the way we perceive things – through what we visualize, say to ourselves and how we change our internal state – we can then have completely new and empowering experiences on the outside and relieve ourselves forever of fear, anxiety attacks and phobias forever. This can be done simply, quickly and very effectively, and often at the unconscious level requiring little input other than a desire to change by the person suffering.

So what is the fastest and easiest way to banish anxiety attacks from your life forever?

While people can certainly see therapists, counselors, read books or take medication there are much quicker, more effective methods for overcoming anxiety which can:

Totally free you from the fear, pain and anxiety associated with any events.

Save thousands of dollars in therapy and medications.

Feel you have complete control of yourself and your emotions

Be completely free from medications

Live a happier, more peaceful and joyous life.

Release stress and anxiety from your body and enjoy better health

When a person suffers from anxiety attacks, it can be quite frustrating for the sufferer to contend with. It can interrupt the day to day life of the person dealing with the anxiety.

For many people, it is not just one issue or dilemma that causes the anxiety attack but rather a culmination of things. By finding out what causes the disorder, it can help the person in the quest to regaining control of one self as well as decreasing the amount of attacks that occur. Like previously stated, the attacks come about from many different reasons, situations and objects.

During one time or another, each and every person finds themselves in an uncomfortable and stressed induced, anxiety-filled situation. From being afraid of speaking in front of people, doing a job interview or just meeting people for the first time, it all adds up to people suffering an anxiety attack.

When a person begins to suffer the symptoms of the attack in the psychological standpoint, physical ones also tend to appear from the intensified anxiety level. If the person can pinpoint what are the causes behind their suffering, they can find ways avoid the situations. But facing the problem or problems head on is better than running away from it.

Three Causes Behind Anxiety Attacks

- Social Anxiety
- Objects
- Pre Situation Anxiety

Social anxiety occurs when a person meets someone new or is approached by someone they do not know. Most of the fear stems from being made fun of or saying the wrong thing or also being thought of negative light. When speaking in front of a group of people, it sometimes is impossible for a person with anxiety disorder to not feel as if they will not mess up, leading up to the attack.

Another cause behind the attacks are objects. Bridges in particular can be quite stimulating for people afraid of them. Hearing negative items about a bridge including one such incident as in the Minnesota Bridge Collapse. The I-35W corridor collapsed during one of the 2007 rush hour traffic while it was being worked on. The tragedy killed several people but injured scores more.

Working to get over anxiety attacks around objects is not a feat that goes unbeaten… it is just a bit harder to work with. Working with a therapist will make getting “over” or complacent a bit easier for the sufferer. The therapist will come up with several plans for the sufferer to use.

For those things that have not happened yet, getting scared beforehand is rather common. A stressful job interview that everything in your household is riding on to get. A doctor’s appointment where the doctor suggests the sufferers comes in to get the results. Anxiety of a child’s impending graduation. All this can lead up to an attack. The cause behind these attacks have something to do with the way ther brain processes information.

A therapist will help the sufferer in changing the way theyy think and find techniques to help them cope with situations that have not happened yet. When using the effective skills learned, it is possible to change the mind’s way of thought.

Should you experience an attack but don’t know why, speaking with a therapist can narrow down possible causes. The therapist can recommend techniques to use in every situation and may even recommend medication if the attacks warrant it.

While these are normal sensations for anxiety, some people suffer far worse than this and are kept from living their lives the way they want to. Every single day of their lives are filled with anxious thoughts of home and it keeps them from dealing with the people around them. If you are one of the thousands of people experiencing severe anxiety attacks, then you may need to look into a good anxiety attack treatment.

Now, exactly what is an anxiety attack? More popularly known as panic attacks, anxiety attacks are discrete periods of severe stress where sufferers feel emotional and physical symptoms. They differ from person to person – some may suddenly experience attacks without warning, while others panic at the thought of something in particular. No matter what the specific symptoms may be, if the individual suffers anxiety at an extreme level, it is necessary that they seek anxiety attack treatment.

Panic attacks have many symptoms. One that most experience is fear or worry in situations where most people feel at ease of comfortable. Symptoms are either emotional or physical. Emotional symptoms may include irritability, restlessness, feelings of apprehension, trouble concentrating, feeling tense and/or jumpy, blankness, and anticipation of worst-case scenarios. The body also reacts in the same way and may produce several physical symptoms like heavy heart pounding, excessive sweating, dizziness, upset stomach, difficulty in breathing, tremors, tension, headaches, insomnia, or fatigue. Anxiety attack treatment helps sufferers deal with these problems and keeps them calmer and happier.

Anxiety attack treatment comes in various forms — from medicated to holistic means, sufferers have tried to deal with the disorder in different ways. Medically, some doctors prescribe medication like diazepam, lorazepam, and clonazepam, to name a few. This type of medicine, known as benzodiazepine drugs, are usually prescribed by doctors as a form of fast-acting anxiety attack treatment, but, while it may help, long-term use of these drugs may lead to physical dependence and tolerance. Some doctors prefer prescribing anti-depressants like paroxetine, sertraline, or fluoxetine to reduce anxiety attacks.

However, while medication is a possible a choice for anxiety attack treatment, there are better, non-chemical ways to deal with the problem. There are other options like paper bag re-breathing, slow diaphragmatic breathing, and counseling. There are also products like Panic Away, which has proven to help sufferers deal with their panic attacks by breaking the cycle of anxiety that they feel. Panic Away makes use of a new technique that breaks this cycle and keeps the individual from regressing to the past once the sufferer has made it through. It has proven to be one of the best courses for anxiety attack treatment, as it does not require medication nor excessive therapy. Additionally, Panic Away teaches individuals how to cope during the onset of a panic attack. Sufferers soon discover how to free themselves from these attacks, making them happier and freer than ever.

Getting anxiety attack help is as easy as consulting with your medical professional and taking their advice. Your anxiety can be very complex, however, as some of that advice may require serious lifestyle changes and a difference in the choices you make in your daily life. There are several types of anxiety attack that may be prescribed from group therapy to medication to color therapy to hypnosis. Any number or combination of a number of things can help anxiety attacks from taking over your life.

An anxiety attack is a sudden rush of physical and mental discomfort or trauma caused by unknown or known sources. Panic attacks could be generated through bad traffic, a stressful morning, or nothing at all. Generally, there are a series of symptoms that are experienced that typically signal the onslaught of an anxiety or panic attack. The symptoms can include anything from sweating profusely to having extreme heart palpitations. Getting anxiety attack can be hard because of the unpredictability of these attacks.

Although panic attacks may seem to be random to some, there are actually a great number of factors and biochemical processes that occur during a panic attack that make it anything but chaotic at the outset. The human body actually reacts in a set number of stages, all of which help prepare the body and train it how to react. So, it stands to reason that if your body is trained to react poorly through a number of factors the likelihood that you will experience a panic attack is significantly greater than a healthier person.

For example, the likelihood of a generally out of shape individual with poor time management skills and poor stress management skills of experiencing a panic attack in a stressful situation is significantly higher than that of a well adjusted person that is confident with their time and stress management skills. This is because their bodies are trained to handle the situations while conversely the body types that are not will inevitably react poorly.

Getting anxiety attack help can, therefore, be as simple as eating properly and taking good care of your self. Having a good diet and feeding your body the nourishment it needs from day to day is an important step to equipping the organs and blood with the enzymes it needs to perform its job. Regular exercise is also integral to this goal, as well as regular rest and relaxation. Taking the time to enjoy life is some of the best anxiety attack you can give yourself.

Once you have found what parts of your life are triggering your anxiety attacks, you can begin to make adjustments. I have found a very good book and audio “A Guide to Eliminate Anxiety and Stress” which is very helpful. You can find a link for the guide at the top of my web site.

There is really no difference between an anxiety attack and a panic attack in the psychology profession and the two are treated as interchangeable terms that describe one and the same thing. Nevertheless, the anxiety attack may be thought of as being a milder version of the panic attack. The main thing about an anxiety attack is that it occurs abruptly and causes the person to suffer extreme anxiety.

An anxiety attack that includes irrational feelings of panic, terror or fear may be considered a panic attack. A definition of an anxiety attack would be that it is an acute bout of anxiety of intense nature and also results in the person feeling panicky.

There are a number of possible causes of an anxiety attack and these include panic attacks, panic disorders, panic disorders accompanied by agoraphobia, panic disorders not accompanied by agoraphobia as well as anxiety disorders. There are certain risk factors that do not directly cause the attacks but are nevertheless associated in some way or the other. The presence of risk factors may make the occurrence of anxiety attacks more likely though they do not necessarily result in an anxiety attack.

Obtain a Diagnosis When you Spot Symptoms

There are certain signs as well as symptoms associated with anxiety attacks and these may be noticeable to the patient, the doctor or both. The signs and symptoms of an anxiety attack include anxiety, extreme anxiety, irrational anxiety, chest pain, difficulty in breathing and these signs and symptoms may vary from individual to individual.

It is fortuitous that there are many treatments available to effectively battle anxiety attacks and these include therapy relaxation techniques and, more importantly, the person should have a balanced and healthy lifestyle to help reduce anxiety and stay in complete control of one’s own life. Anybody who has been suffering intense anxiety or worry for at least six months or even more may be a victim of an anxiety disorder and this worry may interfere with their work, relationships as well as normal activities.

In such cases, the person ought to consult a doctor and obtain medications as well as obtain a diagnosis of the medical illness. There are certain medical conditions that closely mimic or cause anxiety and there are also medications as well as substances which may induce anxiety in a person – so one should take care to be well informed and err on the side of caution.
